Feathers, Fringe & Frills

Feathers were definitely a major part of this collection as the theme revolved around “setting yourself free”, as an uncaged bird would. They could be seen in various placements such as trimming on a jacket collar or sleeve, added to sunglasses or as a printed motif on evening dresses. Fringe and frills were also used throughout to add the feeling of lightness. These pieces will create beautiful movement with the help of a summer breeze.

Capes

Another symbol to express freedom and a way to create beautiful movement in a look is with a cape. Shown in varying lengths and colours, worn with suits, dresses or jumpsuits – the options are endless. As this is Spring/Summer, all capes were made of a thin, sheer material allowing for the flowingness we all look for this time of year. It’s also the perfect way to add some drama or dress up an otherwise understated outfit.

Light(er) Pinks

We are not yet ready to say “goodbye” to pink. However, we are ready to take it down a notch. Baby pink, powder pink, pastel pink – they’re all good. Mix it with other pastel colours and that’s even better. Traditionally thought of as a colour that symbolizes softness and innocence, bold lines, sheer materials and short hemlines help to create some playfulness ideal for the season.

Peekaboo Elements

“Naked fashion” has never really left the fashion trend list but at CHANEL, it’s always kept a little more classy than anywhere else. This season offers various looks of head-to-toe tulle, mesh dresses, skirts and shirts as well as thigh-high slits. It’s definitely one way to keep cool as temperatures rise. But with sophisticated tailoring and feminine touches, the end result is “elevated exposure”.

Platforms

Chunky platforms are not typical in the CHANEL world. Slingbacks – yes. Ballet flats – yes. Mary Janes – yes. So when a platform heel comes along, everyone wants to get their hands on a pair. And with quite a few different options to select from, there’s no disappointment. The white tweed variety with black toe, ankle strap and interlocking C’s on the heel are sure to be regularly seen on CHANEL ambassadors and IG IT girls everywhere.
