Since 2020, Vivienne Rohner has become a well-known CHANEL muse. Appearing in campaigns, opening runway shows and posing for magazine covers dressed in CHANEL looks. However, her first CHANEL appearance was actually in 2015, walking the Fall/Winter 2015/16 RTW show, designed by Karl Lagerfeld. She didn’t walk for CHANEL again until 2020, at the Fall/Winter 2020/21 show, under the direction of Virginie Viard. From that moment, she became one of Virginie’s muses, also appearing in the campaign for the same collection.
For the Spring/Summer 2022 RTW collection, Rohner was featured in the show teaser, produced by Inez and Vinoodh. During the presentation of the collection, a still from the video showing Vivienne behind a camera served as a sprawling backdrop. She also opened the show wearing one of the collections most-loved looks. The Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture show saw Rohner as the couture bride. Rohner closed the show wearing a simple, yet elegant gown, enhanced with a white camellia crown and a bouquet of blue camellias – a subtle tribute to Gaspard Ulliel, the French actor who served as the face of the Bleu de CHANEL cologne for many years. He unexpectedly passed a week prior to the show. To affirm her prominence within the world of CHANEL, at the Spring/Summer 2023 Haute Couture show, Rohner opened as the “ringmaster” – wearing a white double-breasted coat complete with black top hat.
Beyond the runway, Rohner has appeared in multiple CHANEL campaigns over the years. For the Spring/Summer 2023 Pre-Collection, in addition to fronting the campaign, she also served as Virgine Viard’s muse. The inspiration, Rohner explained, “is a fantasized version of my daily life. It is sort of a movie version of it.” Rohner is photographed around New York City wearing classic CHANEL silhouettes suitable for a modern woman living an active life.
Along with Rohner’s impressive catwalk and campaign presence within the House of CHANEL, she can also be frequently seen donning CHANEL pieces in fashion magazines and editorials. For the May 2023 edition of VOGUE Hong Kong, she graced the cover in addition to an accompanying editorial and interview. Her response to the question, “Any particularly memorable moments collaborating with CHANEL?”: “I met Karl; I walked his show when I was 17, but the funny thing is nobody remembers that. So I’ve only worked with Virginie, really. It is a privilege to work with CHANEL, especially now that I’ve witnessed the making of their clothes. Last year, they invited me to the ateliers in Paris when they were working on the haute couture collection. They asked me to take pictures of the seamstresses and all the behind-the-scenes production.”
Vivienne’s effortless style and authentic presence make her an ideal representation of the CHANEL woman. Oh, and we remember your catwalk appearance for the Fall/Winter 2015/16 RTW show!
