A decade in the making.

When CHANEL BEAUTY quietly announced the reformulation of Rouge Coco, the beauty world held its collective breath. The iconic lipstick – a staple in vanities worldwide – had not been touched in ten years. What arrived exceeded every expectation: a featherlight satin formula that glides on like a second skin, delivering flattering colour, intense hydration, and a luminosity that reads as perfectly effortless.

The new Rouge Coco Longwear Satin Lipstick features a trio of vegetable waxes – mimosa, jojoba, and sunflower – paired with a new silicone wax that creates an almost molten sensation upon application. A modern polymer film and silicone microbeads ensure the colour stays true for hours without the dry, chalky feel that plagues so many long-wear formulas. The result? Lips that look cared for, not just coloured.

According to CHANEL.COM, “ROUGE COCO makes a statement with new in-between shades featuring a satin finish, designed by the CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio: soft, intensely luminous, and easy-to-wear colors, each landing somewhere in the middle of two different hues and two different emotions.” While the past iteration of the line included shades that were named after important people in the life of Coco Chanel, the shades in this reinvention are named after meaningful destinations to the House of CHANEL.

Five Shades, Infinite Possibilities

From sun-warmed beiges to deep, dramatic reds – our top 5 shade picks that define the collection:

1. NO. 106  – Deauville, a warm beige

Named for the sun-drenched Normandy resort beloved by Mademoiselle Chanel herself, Deauville is the quintessential ‘your lips but better’ shade. A warm, golden beige with just enough depth to define the lips without overpowering the face, this is the lipstick you reach for when you want to look polished in under ten seconds. It pairs beautifully with bronzed summer skin and equally with the porcelain complexions of autumn. An absolute essential.

Best For: Everyday effortless polish

2. NO. 136 – Flying Cloud, a mauve lilac

Perhaps the most directional shade in the new collection, Flying Cloud is a sophisticated mauve that walks the line between editorial and wearable with extraordinary grace. Cool-toned enough to feel modern, warm enough to avoid looking severe. This is the shade for the woman who considers her lips the punctuation of her look. It photographs magnificently and wears even better in real life, deepening beautifully as the day progresses.

Best For: Autumn evenings & editorial moments

3. NO. 140 – Rotonde, a crimson red

There is a reason Chanel has always championed the red lip, and Rotonde is the definitive argument. A true, deep crimson – neither too orange, nor too blue-toned – this is the red that has no agenda other than absolute confidence. The satin finish makes it accessible for daytime wear while the depth of the pigment ensures it commands a room by night. Apply, blot once, reapply: the classic method never fails, and neither does Rotonde.

Best For: Special occasions & power dressing

4. NO. 134 – Édimbourg, a satin taupe mauve

Édimbourg is a study in quiet sophistication – a satin taupe mauve that is simultaneously cool and warm, understated and memorable. Named for Scotland’s stately capital, there is something undeniably architectural about this shade: it has structure, character, and a timeless quality that transcends trend. On fair to medium complexions it creates a dreamy, almost ethereal effect; on deeper skin tones it delivers striking drama with minimal effort.

Best For: Sophisticated minimalism & all skin tones

5. NO. 444 – Gabrielle, a bluish red

A tribute to the woman who started it all, Gabrielle is perhaps the most personal shade in the entire CHANEL lip repertoire. A rich, slightly blue-toned red – the precise shade associated with Mademoiselle Chanel’s most iconic portraits – it is bold without being brash, classic without being predictable. The cool undertone makes teeth appear whiter and complexions luminous. To wear Gabrielle is to understand exactly what Coco meant when she said that elegance is refusal: it refuses to go unnoticed.

Best For: The definitive CHANEL moment
