The second ready to wear and fourth overall collection in Matthieu Blazy’s year of debuts at CHANEL and the thrill is still present. Following the release of his first collection – Spring/Summer 2026 RTW – which arrived in boutiques last week to an exceptionally overwhelming shopper response, we were introduced to what everyone will be wearing later this year.

The show was set at night within the Grand Palais; models walked amongst sky high multicoloured cranes. Of this Matthieu Blazy said, “I was interested in the idea of building a dream, a work in progress.” And so this is the idea – the foundation he is building this new era at CHANEL into. This foundation is based on conversations with Gabrielle Chanel, a study of her creations, her motivations, her rebellion.

Watching a Matthieu Blazy for CHANEL collection in motion instantly has you imaging yourself in each look. Everything flows so effortlessly while being uniquely eye-catching. Layering – blousons over cardigans over shirts, vivid prints – florals, plaids, animal, and an eclectic mix of textures – beads, feathers, fringe and faux fur continue to be on trend. Classic silhouettes were shown in signature black and white as well as mermaid-esque metallic and iridescent touches – complete with water coloured, glittering hair.

The opening look was an iteration of the CHANEL suit, but unlike the pale sheer muslin creation shown at the couture show, this version was a black ribbed wool and silk blend design. Dropped waistlines, free flowing dresses and an array of two piece suits in varying proportions and weights continued to display Blazy’s dedication to honouring Coco Chanel’s originating principles.

Blazers, blousons, boots and bags will be among the first pieces to sell out. The blazers were elongated, the blousons worn with skirts and pants, over-the-knee leather boots with capped toes and bags in silhouettes, patterns and materials to suit both the OG and new CHANEL clientele alike.

The final look – an elegantly simple little black dress made of jersey with a feathered camellia centered in the space of the open back – made it clear that the muse here is very clearly Chanel herself.

As the CHANEL girls in the front row – Margot Robbie, Lily-Rose Depp, Jennie and Teyana Taylor – stood to give a standing ovation while singing along to Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance”, it is evident that the dream Matthieu envisions is of a free, modern woman. Keep building.
